Habitat and species maintenance as ecosystem service is defined as the presence of suitable ecological condition -usually habitats- and of species that people value. The biophysical assessment includes the mapping (i) of suitable ecological conditions required to support species populations and (ii) of species hotspots. The spatial relationship between these ecosystem features is used to identify different types of habitat and species maintenance areas that will ultimately be considered for the quantification of the actual flow, that is assessed in monetary terms only.2023-11-02T15:39:36Z2022-01-27T10:44:44ZSupply and Use Tables (9 Ecosystem Services)European Commission, Joint Research Centre (JRC)mailto:marialuisa.tamborra@ec.europa.eutag:data.europa.eu,2012:/dataset/aac9679a-df9c-4e35-9207-d32fc394946dThis dataset is an output of KIP INCA. The tables report ecosystem service actual flow in physical and monetary terms. Physical units varies according to the ES, the monetary unit is Euro. The monetary valuation is expressed in constant prices.
The Supply table is structured according to the MAES Ecosystem Type classification. The Use table is structured according to the following (aggregated) economic sectors: Primary sector, including Agriculture and Forestry; Secondary sector; Tertiary sector; Households; Global society.
Data are reported in absolute terms and by the EU 28 countries.
Supply and Use tables are provided for nine ecosystem services: crop provision (2000, 2006, 2012); timber provision (2000, 2006, 2012); crop pollination (2000, 2006, 2012); carbon sequestration (2000, 2006, 2012); flood control (2006, 2012); soil retention (2000, 2006, 2012); water purification (2006, 2012); habitat and species maintenance (2000, 2012); nature-based recreation (2000, 2012).2023-11-02T15:37:58Z2022-03-21T21:58:36ZINCA - Outdoor RecreationEuropean Commission, Joint Research Centre (JRC)mailto:marialuisa.tamborra@ec.europa.eutag:data.europa.eu,2012:/dataset/08c144ad-c404-415a-9bd4-f45766810180This dataset is an output of KIP INCA. It describes the use of outdoor recreation on a daily basis (requiring short distance movement to reach a recreational area).
Outdoor recreation is a cultural ecosystem service that includes all physical and intellectual interactions with biota, ecosystems, land-/seascapes.
The actual use of the service is approximated by mapping the number of potential visitors. The assessment is based on an analysis of ROS9 classes and by overlaying the ES potential and demand data (More information is available in Vallecillo et al. 2018).2023-11-02T15:37:31Z2021-06-22T08:09:12ZINCA - Flood ControlEuropean Commission, Joint Research Centre (JRC)mailto:marialuisa.tamborra@ec.europa.eutag:data.europa.eu,2012:/dataset/995901d4-d0f5-471c-a6b4-2710a049e209This dataset is an output of KIP INCA.
All ecosystems but in particular forests, shrubland, grasslands and wetlands reduce runoff by retaining water in the soil and aquifers and slowing down the water flow. This prevents the rapid downstream runoff of surface water, hereby lowering peak runoff, and thus reduces the detrimental effects to citizens, farmland, and infrastructure from flooding. The accounting approach developed here presents the potential of ecosystems to regulate water flows together with the socio-economic demand for protection against river floods.2023-11-02T15:36:18Z2021-06-21T23:06:32ZINCA - Crop PollinationEuropean Commission, Joint Research Centre (JRC)mailto:marialuisa.tamborra@ec.europa.eutag:data.europa.eu,2012:/dataset/89572e95-2180-44d9-9cf7-ff2d402967b2This dataset is an output of KIP INCA. It describes the ecosystem service of crop pollination. Pollination is a key ecosystem service as many crops but in particular, fruits and vegetables are partially dependent on pollinating insects to produce food for human consumption.
The overlap between the pollination potential and demand for pollination is used to quantify the area generating the actual flow (or use) of the service : the use area. In this way, the use area is defined as the extent of pollinator-dependent crops benefiting from the service providing area with different pollination potentials.2023-11-02T15:36:06Z2021-06-22T06:58:48ZEcosystem services accounts: maps for 7 ecosystem services produced in KIP INCA 2018 updates European Commission, Joint Research Centre (JRC)mailto:marialuisa.tamborra@ec.europa.eutag:data.europa.eu,2012:/dataset/4cbd7c1e-6512-4ebe-8ca5-e08209cc3efbThese datasets are an output of KIP INCA and refer to map datasets for 7 ecosystem services.

On site soil erosion from rainfall is regarded as one of the major causes of environmental degradation. However, healthy ecosystems can also halt soil erosion and contribute to the maintenance of soil quality and therefore of ecological processes. These dataset contains the potential of ecosystems to reduce soil erosion by rain, the demand (or need) for soil retention by ecosystems, the amount of soil retained by ecosystems (service use), the unmet demand (areas with an ecosystem deficit to retain soil) and the monetary value of the service provided by ecosystems.2023-11-02T15:34:24Z2021-06-21T23:05:42ZEURL ECVAM Genotoxicity and Carcinogenicity Consolidated Database of Ames Positive ChemicalsEuropean Commission, Joint Research Centre (JRC)mailto:raffaella.corvi@ec.europa.eutag:data.europa.eu,2012:/dataset/jrc-eurl-ecvam-genotoxicity-carcinogenicity-amesThe EURL ECVAM Genotoxicity and Carcinogenicity Consolidated Database is a structured master database that compiles available genotoxicity and carcinogenicity data for Ames positive chemicals originating from different sources.
By using a harmonised format to capture the information, this database represents a powerful resource for data analysis that can be used to guide a thorough evaluation of genotoxicity and carcinogenicity.
The database is intended as a resource for evaluating the predictivity of the Ames test for in vivo genotoxicity and carcinogenicity when considered alone or in association with in vitro mammalian cell assays (gene mutation and clastogenicity/aneugenicity) and for better characterisation of those cases where the Ames test leads to irrelevant ('false positive') results.
The database may also serve as a platform for detailed structural characterisation of specific groups of compounds with or without carcinogenic or genotoxic activity.
Available here is also the Carcinogenicity Genotoxicity eXperience (CGX) dataset, previously hosted in the Lhasa Limited Site.

This section presents the content of the second (2018) edition.
The RM Scoreboard is an initiative of the European Innovation Partnership (EIP) on Raw Materials that provides relevant and reliable monitoring information to governments, industry, and other stakeholders about the main challenges to a secure and sustainable supply of raw materials to the EU. It is a joint collaboration of DG Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs and the Commission’s Joint Research Centre.
The 2018 edition of the RM Scoreboard consists of 26 indicators grouped into five thematic clusters (Figure 1): (1) raw materials in the global context, (2) competitiveness & innovation, (3) framework conditions for mining, (4) circular economy and recycling, and (5) environmental and social sustainability.2023-10-25T13:42:39Z2020-01-24T19:06:58ZRaw Materials ProfilesEuropean Commission, Joint Research Centre (JRC)mailto:david.pennington@ec.europa.eutag:data.europa.eu,2012:/dataset/ad9774ba-efd3-49e0-b6d8-5279e8467c18Collection of 15 raw materials' specific profiles, containing various quantitative information related to the supply/value chains.2023-10-25T13:41:11Z2020-01-24T18:40:58ZEURL ECVAM indicators to assess the impact of EU-funded research into Alzheimer's Disease, Breast Cancer and Prostate CancerEuropean Commission, Joint Research Centre (JRC)mailto:jrc-f3-enquiries@ec.europa.eutag:data.europa.eu,2012:/dataset/a96ad0dd-f23a-4ee4-a839-04928c1c5cf3Biomedical research is extremely resource intensive. Therefore, monitoring its outputs and impacts can be considered a priority to gain an understanding of the most productive research avenues worth investing in.
For this reason, in 2019 the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC), through its European Union Reference Laboratory for alternatives to animal testing (EURL ECVAM), initiated a project to define suitable and reliable indicators to measure the innovation and impact of EU-funded research in three areas of biomedical research: Alzheimer’s disease, breast cancer and prostate cancer. These diseases are highly prevalent, representing a heavy societal and economic burden for Europe, and have attracted a large share of
the investments made through several Commission funding programmes.
A set of 14 indicators was built that cover different scientific and societal aspects. This dataset provides the main data used to select, refine and implement these indicators as described in the JRC report "Building indicators to assess the impact of EU-funded research into Alzheimer's disease, Brest cancer and Prostate cancer". This dataset can also be used to generate additional indicators and insight through an integrated analysis applied to the abovementioned biomedical research areas.2023-10-25T13:41:00Z2023-04-17T12:47:01Z
