Asedie's 11th International Conference on PSI Re-use

Participants highlighted the need for a solid and bi-directional public-private collaboration

On 28 November, the Spanish infomediary sector association Asedie celebrated its 11th International Conference on the Re-use of Public Sector Information (PSI). The annual conference's main objective is to serve as a platform to share the knowledge and experience within the information and data community. Through this event, relationships and collaborations between the public and private sectors have been strengthened, facilitating the opening of new datasets and their possible re-use.

The 11th International Conference brought together public sector representatives, re-use companies, and experts that discussed "Collaboration and Homogenization: key aspects in the information ecosystem". There were several speakers during the event, including:

  • Szymon Lewandowski, a member of the European Commission's DG Connect (Data and Innovation Policy Unit), who spoke about the importance of the data economy and the need to set and strengthen common standards for the collection and exploitation of high-value data.
  • Cristina Morales, sub-director general of the Information Society Contents of the Ministry of Economy and Businesses, who pointed out the need for coordination between the different levels of the administration and the private sector.

The second part of the event focused on the opening of data and the re-use of information through a round table called "Current situation, existing barriers and future prospects". Here, participants discussed the significance of establishing common objectives and shared strategies and the importance of creating a culture of open data in the Infomediary Sector.

During the event, the Asedie Award 2019 was attributed for the sixth consecutive year. It is a recognition of the trajectory and work done in the field of open data by people, companies, or institutions that contribute to innovation and the development of the Infomediary Sector. This year, the award was given to the Open Data Portal of the Junta de Castilla y León, Joaquín Meseguer - the general director of Transparency and Good Government of Castilla y León.
