Open Data for Sustainability
From 17 to 21 July, the 2017 Africa Open Data Conference took place in Accra, Ghana. This year's conference attracted participants from all over Africa as well as delegations from around the world. The event brought together innovators and visionaries from the private sector as well as decision-makers, investors and donors. The conference introduced participants to the innovation potential of Open Data for achieving the development goals in Africa and around the globe.
Various sessions were held that dealt with topics such as the benefits of Open Data towards improving economic growth, gender equality and innovation in fields such as energy, health, agriculture and nutrition. More, the sessions discussed the way in which the public and private sectors as well as civil society organisations can help unleash Open Data's potential towards meeting the Sustainable Development Goals.
