This dataset is an output of KIP INCA. It describes the demand for pollination services at EU scale, based on the distribution of crops.
Together with data which describe the potential of the land to support pollinators this dataset can be used to account for pollination as an ecosystem service flow.
Pollination is a key ecosystem service as many crops but in particular, fruits and vegetables are partially dependent on pollinating insects to produce food for human consumption.
The demand for crop pollination was quantified as the extent of pollinator-dependent crops. The assessment is based on CAPRI data. Demand is expressed as ha of pollinator-depended crops
