This dataset is an output of KIP INCA. It describes the potential (ES Potential) of land to support pollination services.
Together with data which describe the demand for pollination this dataset can be used to account for pollination as an ecosystem service flow.
Pollination is a key ecosystem service as many crops but in particular, fruits and vegetables are partially dependent on pollinating insects to produce food for human consumption.
The assessment of pollination potential is based on an indicator of the environmental suitability to support wild insect pollinators. The environmental suitability is, then, used to delineate service providing areas (SPA). Pollination potential is presented by this dataset as a binary map (presence 1 >0.2 /absence 0 <=0.2).
