The “European Science Vocabulary” (EuroSciVoc) is a multilingual taxonomy that represents all the main fields of science that were discovered from CORDIS content. It was built using the of hierarchy the OECD's Fields of R&D classification (FoRD) as root and then extending it through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. It contains almost 1000 categories in 6 languages (English, French, German, Italian, Polish and Spanish) and each category is enriched with relevant keywords extracted from the textual description of CORDIS projects.
EuroSciVoc is managed by the Publications Office of the EU, and is currently used by the CORDIS website to structure and classify the projects funded under the EU's research and innovation Framework Programmes. It is specifically developed as a reference vocabulary for the Open Science community and is aligned with Linked Open Data standards.
