Wrapping up the Academy year: Insights from the final Use Case
Observatory webinar
The European Data Portal [https://data.europa.eu/en] closed the
academy year with its final webinar in December, focusing on the
recently published Use Case Observatory Volume 3
[https://data.europa.eu/en/news-events/news/use-case-observatory-volume-iii-tracking-open-data-impact-across-europe].
This edition marks the culmination of a three-year research project
(2022–2025) tracking the impact of 13 open data reuse cases across
Europe. During the webinar, Sem Enzerink, UCO Lead for the European
Data Portal, provided an overview of the study, highlighting how open
data continues to drive innovation and societal benefits.

The session featured two inspiring examples from the publication. The
first, Integreat [https://integreat-app.de/], presented by Svenja
Osmers, is a multilingual information app designed to support migrant
integration. Local authorities can populate the app with relevant
content, while the platform manages the technical infrastructure.
Today, Integreat is used by one-third of German municipalities, with
over four million annual visits, making it the most widely adopted
digital integration tool in Germany.

The second case, Tangible Data [https://tangibledata.xyz/about],
introduced by Antonio Moneo, tackles the challenge of making complex
datasets understandable and actionable. By transforming scattered and
technical information on issues like climate change and biodiversity
into intuitive formats, Tangible Data bridges the gap between data
producers and end users, citizens, businesses, and institutions,
turning abstract numbers into meaningful insights that drive real
change.
