Common logos to identify trusted EU data intermediaries and data
altruism organisations
As part of the implementation of the Data Governance Act (DGA)
the European Commission has introduced common logos
[https://digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu/en/library/logos-data-intermediaries-and-data-altruism-organisations-recognised-union]
to identify trusted data intermediation services and data altruism
organisations. The logos allow to differentiate recognised trusted
services from other services, contributing to transparency in the data
market. Once the services are identified, they have to display the
common logo clearly on every online and offline publication that
relates to their activities.

The DGA defines a set of rules for providers of data intermediation
services
[https://digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu/en/policies/data-governance-act-explained#ecl-inpage-l4ihlqt9]
to ensure that they will function as trustworthy organisers of data
sharing or pooling within the common European data spaces. These
services are allowed to use the label ‘data intermediation services
provider recognised in the Union’ as well as the common logo if they
comply with the DGA conditions.

The same goes for data altruism organisations
[https://digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu/en/policies/data-governance-act-explained#ecl-inpage-l4ihmeih],
where the DGA sets conditions to ensure that when individuals and
companies give consent or permission to share their data, it will be
handled by trusted organisations based on EU values and principles.
Entities that comply with the DGA conditions can be registered as
‘data altruism organisations recognised in the Union’ and use the
common logos designed for this purpose.

As of 24 September 2023, an EU-level register of recognised data
altruism organisations will be set up by the Commission for
information purposes. The logo for data altruism organisations
recognised in the EU must be accompanied by a QR code with a link to
this EU public register.

available by increasing trust in data-sharing and tackling technical
