Empowering youth: European youth week 2024
This week we celebrate the European Youth Week 2024
[https://youth.europa.eu/youthweek_en], an event organised every two
years by the European Commission to celebrate and promote youth
engagement and active citizenship across Europe. From April 12 to
April 19, 2024, young people are encouraged to participate in various
activities and discussions this year under the theme "Voice your
vision," focusing on democracy and the upcoming European elections.

During the European Youth Week, participants have the opportunity to
engage in meaningful dialogues with policymakers and decision-makers,
shaping their vision for the future of Europe. Moreover, participants
can learn about EU opportunities like Erasmus+
[https://erasmus-plus.ec.europa.eu/], European Solidarity Corps
[https://europeansolidaritycorps.net/] and Eurodesk network
[https://eurodesk.eu/], gaining insights into the impact of their
actions and understanding the significance of their vote in the
upcoming elections.

With activities spanning across 394 different initiatives from 29
countries and over a million participants, the European Youth Week
2024 promises to be an empowering and enriching experience for all
involved. With democracy as the central focus, youth across Europe
are urged to actively participate in society and make their voices
heard, especially with the European elections approaching.

In support of the activities offered during the European Youth Week,
open data plays a crucial role in supporting the education and
development of young people. By providing access to a vast array of
datasets covering various themes and topics, data.europa.eu
[https://data.europa.eu/en] empowers students and young professionals
to conduct research, analyse trends, and gain valuable insights into
pressing issues facing society, therefore preparing them for future
roles in various fields and industries. Through interdisciplinary
collaboration and innovation facilitated by open data, young people
can address complex challenges and contribute to positive change in
society.
