Discover our Academy’s courses on communication about open data
This week's course highlights of the data.europa.eu Academy
[https://data.europa.eu/en/academy] are those related to the
Communication theme. These courses help users translate their results
of working with open data into an easy-to-digest story for their
audience. On our Academy page [https://data.europa.eu/en/academy],
users can filter by the theme Communication, which shows 4 different
courses each containing relevant lessons.

The course on ‘Measuring the impact of open data
[https://data.europa.eu/en/academy/measuring-impact-open-data]’
teaches users how the impact of open data usage on government,
society, environment, and economy can be made tangible. Moreover,
users can get inspired by the lesson on ‘Stories from the Use Case
Observatory
[https://data.europa.eu/en/academy/stories-use-case-observatory]’,
to learn about data-driven solutions in Europe. In June, a new webinar
(Volume 2) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jAcmB8U77OM] was hosted,
where speakers from two data reuse cases informed listeners on their
reusage of open data in day-to-day projects.

The other relevant courses are ‘Including data in your communication
[https://data.europa.eu/en/academy/including-data-your-communication]’,
which contains several videos on how you can improve your
communication through data visualisation, such as the lesson on
creating maps of the European Union elections
[https://data.europa.eu/en/academy/european-union-elections]. For
beginners, there is the course ‘Introducing data visualisation
[https://data.europa.eu/en/academy/introducing-data-visualisation]’
which helps users inspire their audience by creating engaging
storytelling data visualisations. Lastly, the ‘Inspiring through
data visualisation
[https://data.europa.eu/en/academy/inspiring-through-data-visualisation]’
course builds on this by extending the knowledge on creating
meaningful illustrations on day-to-day topics like music, art,
COVID-19 and the environment.

On a regular basis, there is new content added to the courses. For
example, people already familiar to older content can now watch our
session hosted on 21 June on the European Drug Report
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0RLxHxfiOM&list=PLT5rARDev_rknM6hDfssgSCS6aUxE%E2%80%A6],
which is part of the ‘How to make your data easier to visualise
[https://data.europa.eu/en/academy/how-make-your-data-easier-visualise]’
lesson. So, whether you are a beginner or more advanced with
communication open data, our data.europa.eu Academy
[https://data.europa.eu/en/academy] offers you a variety of courses to
further improve your skills.
