Mark your calendars for our upcoming webinar ‘Smart cities and
digital twin technology: the case of Dublin
[https://dataeuropaacademy.clickmeeting.com/webinar-smart-cities-and-digital-twin-technology-the-case-of-dublin-/register]’
on Friday, 14 December 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 CET. Building on the
success of our previous smart city webinar on Rotterdam, this second
edition will highlight the innovative Smart Dublin
[https://smartdublin.ie/] project.

Smart cities use technology to enhance urban management and
efficiency. By integrating digital solutions, they improve traditional
networks and services, benefiting residents and businesses. Beyond
better resource use and reduced emissions, smart cities feature
advanced transport networks, upgraded water and waste systems, as well
as efficient lighting and heating. The European Commission
collaborates with smart cities to tackle local challenges, deliver
better services, and achieve the European Green Deal objectives. An
example of a smart city is the Smart Dublin project which supports EU
goals of smart governance, sustainability, and digital transformation.

Smart Dublin is a pioneering digital twin platform developed
by Dublin City Council [https://www.dublincity.ie/residential] in
collaboration with the Irish Centre for High-End Computing
[https://www.ichec.ie/], using open data from the Dublinked
[https://data.smartdublin.ie/] portal. During this webinar, two
project representatives will demonstrate how digital twins, powered by
open data, can revolutionise public engagement, urban planning, and
data-driven decision-making. By showcasing tangible use cases and
technical solutions from Smart Dublin, the webinar aims to inspire
European public authorities to adopt digital twins, fostering smarter
and greener cities. Participants will gain insights into how this
initiative enhances transparency and innovation by addressing
challenges in interoperability, data management, and real-time
visualisation.
