The Erasmus+ initiative: Fostering learning, mobility, and
transparency across Europe
Erasmus+ [https://erasmus-plus.ec.europa.eu/] is the European
Union’s programme to support education, training, youth, and sport
in Europe. The programme has had more than 15 million participants
since 1987 and creates opportunities for people to study, train, or
volunteer abroad. These opportunities are specifically aimed at
students, learners, trainees, and volunteers from all over the world
who want to develop themselves on a professional and personal level.

By promoting cross-border cooperation and cultural exchange, Erasmus+
also plays an important role in broadening the European Education Area
[https://education.ec.europa.eu/], allowing research, learning, and
studying to be carried out across borders seamlessly. In the current
2021-2027 programme, the focus is placed on social inclusions, the
green and digital transitions, and promoting participation in
democratic life. Erasmus+ also focused on incorporating activities
which are set out by the Digital Education Action Plan
[https://education.ec.europa.eu/focus-topics/digital-education/action-plan]
and European Skills Agenda
[https://employment-social-affairs.ec.europa.eu/policies-and-activities/skills-and-qualifications/european-skills-agenda_en].

In order to promote data sharing, the Erasmus+ platform launched a
data storytelling initiative.
There, various data visualisations indicate the impact of the
programme and insights into grant allocation, number of projects, etc.
There is also the Erasmus+ Public Dashboard

for more specific figures regarding the programme and its
participants.
