WATER

Water [http://essenceofwater.org/importance-of-water/] is a dynamic
medium that continuously changes from liquid, to solid, to gas and
enables life on our earth. Water is one of the three basic needs for
humans as it plays a critical role in delivering nutrients and oxygen,
regulating the body temperature, and helping in fighting illness and
supporting brain function.

Due to the importance of water, data that measures its quality,
temperature, use, dissemination, and supply is generated, regularly
updated and used in the decision and policy making process and to
create services that aim to improve our day-to-day life and support
the environment.

OPEN WATER DATA

The European Data Portal [https://www.europeandataportal.eu/] (EDP)
has over 25,000 datasets [/data/datasets?locale=en&query=water&page=1]
related to water. For example:

 	* 'Hydrological data water stations
[/data/datasets/ydrologika-dedomena-ydrologikoy-sta8moy-nio-xwrio?locale=en]'
from _data.gov.gr_ [http://www.data.gov.gr/] - a dataset that states
the daily water data in different hydrological stations, such as water
temperature and conductivity, in Greece.
 	* 'Surface water chemistry
[/data/datasets/756d2f00-2f00-156d-85b3-c88088beb3f3?locale=en]' from
_edgi.geology.cz_ [https://egdi.geology.cz/] - a database of chemical
analysis of the surface water in the Czech Republic.
 	* 'Water - Evolution of price water
[/data/datasets/eau-evolution-prix-eau?locale=en]' from _data.gouv.fr_
[https://www.data.gouv.fr/] - a dataset that shows the evolution of
the price of water in France.
 	* 'Water supply plan
[/data/datasets/vandforsyningsplan-brondby-kommune?locale=en]' from
_opendata.dk_ [http://www.opendata.dk/] - a database on the
Municipality of Denmark's water supply plan.

OPEN WATER DATA USE CASES

The EDP has thirteen examples of use cases
[/en/using-data/use-cases?title=water&body_value=water&field_country_value=All&field_region_value=All&field_sector_value=All&field_type_of_use_case_value=All]
that use open data related to water. For example, the website
_Amsterdecks _and the application Aquadaia.

_Amsterdecks_
[/sites/default/files/use-cases/use_case_netherlands_-_amsterdecks_v1.pdf]
is a Dutch website that aims to increase social involvement in water
quality by allowing users to visualise the waterways in the City of
Amsterdam and by showing them the water quality of the different
waterways. The website [http://amsterdecks.com/] uses open data on
water infrastructures, rivers, and water quality from institutions
such as the Municipality of Amsterdam [https://www.amsterdam.nl/en/].

_Aquadaia_ [/sites/default/files/use-cases/spain_-_aqua_daia.pdf] is a
free application from the Spanish company Daia Intelligent Solutions
[http://daiasolutions.com/] that focuses on developing solutions for
agriculture based on artificial intelligence techniques and data
mining. The application [http://www.aquadaia.com/en] optimises water
use in irrigation systems and promotes economic, social, and
environmental sustainability in a manner that is cost saving for
users. Data Intelligent Solutions uses meteorological data from
meteorological open data portals and weather stations across Spain for
_Aquadaia_.

European countries, explore the EDP's available open water datasets
