on WEDNESDAY 14 SEPTEMBER 2022 BETWEEN 12:00 – 13:00 CET! The
webinar will feature a keynote speech from Professor John Sweeney, a
Climatologist and a contributing author to the fourth Assessment
Report [https://www.ipcc.ch/assessment-report/ar4/] of the
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change [http://www.ipcc.ch/],
before opening the floor to the seven shortlisted projects.

Participants in the challenge were given two months to develop tools,
dashboards, analyses and applications which address the climate crisis
in some shape or form.  A committee of representatives from Smart
Dublin, Dublin CARO, Codema, Derilinx and the Climate Action officers
of Dublin City, Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown, Fingal and South Dublin County
Councils was then set up to administer and oversee the competition.
Seven projects were shortlisted, all relying on data published on
Ireland’s National [http://www.data.gov.ie] and/ or Dublin Region
[http://www.data.smartdublin.ie] open data repositories and covering
themes like ‘Energy & Buildings’, ‘Nature-Based Solutions’,
‘Transport’, ‘Resource Management’, and ‘Flood
Resilience’.

The seven shortlisted speakers that will take the floor during the
workshop are:

 	* ´GoZeroWaste App [https://gozerowaste.app/en/]`, whose aim is to
support waste reduction through encouraging use of refill stations for
water bottles, bulk stores for unpacketed goods, charity and second
hand stores;
 	* ´Nature Based Solutions Zoning Map
[https://naturebasedsolutions.org/projects]`, an interactive map
showing where deficiencies in ecosystem services and social need are
to help address potential climate change effects- such as flooding;
 	* ´Cycling Infrastructure Optimisation Tool`, a project that
analyses data relating to active travel in order to identify optimal
locations for provision of cycling infrastructure;
 	* ´iAdapt Game`, a climate change adaptation awareness raising game
aimed – among others – at Transition Year students;
 	* ´Invasive Species Dashboard
[https://www.arcgis.com/apps/dashboards/ce6ba96cdc6942938028dd5a1b707e24]`,
which visualises invasive species with a particular focus on
potentially threatened woodlands;
 	* ´Locations and Optimising use of Remote Working Hubs: online
tool` that uses data science and machine learning approaches to help
model optimal sites for locating remote hubs as well as to identify
ways to increase awareness and usage of them;
 	* ‘Energy Calculator Infographics’, a project combining data
visualisations and narrative to illustrate how individuals and
organisations can positively impact on greenhouse gas emissions.

 While shortlisted participants will receive an award to the value of
€1,000, the first three placed will win an award worth respectively
€5,000 (first place), €3,000 (second place), and €2,000 (third
place).
