Bavaria launches a new data portal: discover ‘open bydata’
The Bavarian State Ministry for Digital Affairs recently launched a
new version of their open data portal, now branded as ‘open bydata
[https://open.bydata.de/home?locale=de]’. Following the first
publication of the Bavarian Open Data portal in May 2023, this new
platform offers over 1,100 datasets from state authorities,
municipalities, and research institutions.

The Bavarian open data team developed the open bydata
[https://open.bydata.de/home?locale=de] portal to create transparency
and enable businesses, academia, and civil society to use data for
innovation and further improvements to their services. By involving
future users from the beginning of the development process, the team
created a portal that supports synergies between administrations and
the public.

The new portal includes a variety of updates, such as a new design
with improved usability, new search functions, extensive information
and consulting services for administration, and several interfaces for
software development and data analysis. Furthermore, data providers
can establish their presence on the portal by individualising their
profile with information such as contact details. This enables users
to contact the data provider with ideas and projects related to their
datasets.

In the future, the portal will be constantly updated with more
datasets. Check it out on open.bydata.de
[https://open.bydata.de/home?locale=de] and learn more about the
challenges and future of the portal in our upcoming data story
including an interview with the Bavarian team!
