Exploring the European Tourism Data Space: A recap of our September
webinar
After a refreshing summer break, the data.europa academy
[https://data.europa.eu/en/academy] returned with an inspiring
September webinar, ‘Data spaces: experience from the European
Tourism Data Space’
[https://data.europa.eu/en/news-events/events/webinar-data-spaces-experience-european-tourism-data-space].
With many open data enthusiasts returning from their holidays, it was
a great opportunity to gain more insights into how tourism data is
being used across Europe.

We were joined by Dolores Ordóñez, coordinator from the DEPLOYTOUR
[https://deploytour.eu/] project, who provided valuable insights into
the development and structure of the tourism data space. She presented
the project’s roadmap and rolebook, helping attendees understand the
importance of the Common European Tourism Data Space (ETDS) and its
role in shaping the future of tourism. Participants also gained
insights on the objectives, best practices, and lessons learned from
the creation of the data space.

In the second part of the webinar, attendees got to explore the ETDS
in practice with two case studies, presented by experts Georgia Lignou
and Jonathan Huffstutler from Pleiades [https://pleiadesiot.com/] and
EONA-X [https://eona-x.eu/]. The case studies, set in Greece and
Paris, demonstrated how data spaces like the ETDS can create public
value and advance the transition to digital and green tourism. The
projects inspired lively discussion, with attendees asking insightful
questions that were answered in the closing Q&A. The session was
recorded, and both the recording
