on Friday, 23 January 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 CET. Following the
previous smart city webinars on Rotterdam and Dublin, this third
edition will highlight the Bologna Digital Twin
[https://www.comune.bologna.it/myportal/C_A944/api/content/download?id=65096e0068f9d30099e05a03]
project.

Urban digital twins are playing an increasingly relevant role in city
governance processes, raising key questions about how data, models,
and artificial intelligence systems are produced, governed, and made
accessible to public actors and the wider community. By leveraging the
capabilities of AI and automated data analytics, digital twins can
assist institutions in the transition towards evidence-based
policymaking.

The Bologna digital twin is a project led by a consortium of 5
organisations working together to create a new civic infrastructure,
which will be at the disposal of the entire city of Bologna. The
digital twin is a crucial tool for Bologna, as it aids in bringing to
fruition municipal ambitions, such as climate neutrality by 2030 and
better public health. In this webinar, Stefania Paolazzi from Comune
di Bologna [https://www.comune.bologna.it/] and Marco Pistore from
Fondazione Bruno Kessler [https://www.fbk.eu/en/] will talk users
through the conception of the Bologna digital twin project, as well as
provide use cases on what is currently being done to facilitate
informed decision making. Participants will gain insights into the key
challenges and opportunities of urban digital twins and the
contribution to transparency and innovation in Bologna.
