COUNCIL IMPLEMENTING DECISION (EU) 2020/216
of 17 February 2020
on the appointment of the Vice-Chair and two further full-time members of the Single Resolution Board
THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION,
Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union,
Having regard to Regulation (EU) No 806/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 15 July 2014 establishing uniform rules and a uniform procedure for the resolution of credit institutions and certain investment firms in the framework of a Single Resolution Mechanism and a Single Resolution Fund and amending Regulation (EU) No 1093/2010 (1), and in particular Article 56(4) and (6) thereof,
Having regard to the proposal from the European Commission,
Whereas:

On 13 November 2019, the Commission, after hearing the Single Resolution Board (the ‘Board’) in its plenary session, adopted shortlists of candidates for the appointment of the Vice-Chair and two further full-time members of the Board and provided those shortlists to the European Parliament. |

(2) |
The Council was informed of those shortlists on 14 November 2019. |

(3) |
Pursuant to Article 56(5) of Regulation (EU) No 806/2014, the term of office of the Vice-Chair and of the further full-time members of the Board is to be 5 years. |

(4) |
On 14 January 2020, the Commission adopted a proposal for the appointment of Mr Jan Reinder DE CARPENTIER as the Vice-Chair of the Board and of Mr Jesús SAURINA and Mr Pedro MACHADO as further full-time members of the Board and submitted that proposal to the European Parliament for approval. |

The European Parliament approved that proposal on 30 January 2020. |

The proposed candidates fulfil all the requirements set out in Article 56(4) of Regulation (EU) No 806/2014, |
HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:
Article 1
The following persons are hereby appointed full-time members of the Board for a term of office of 5 years as from 1 March 2020:

Mr Jan Reinder DE CARPENTIER, as Vice-Chair, |

— |
Mr Jesús SAURINA, as Director of Resolution Planning and Decisions, |
|
— |
Mr Pedro MACHADO, as Director of Resolution Planning and Decisions. |
Article 2
This Decision shall enter into force on the date of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.
