Around 430 hectares of forest in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania were affected due to a re-ignited forest fire in the municipality of Ludwigslust-Parchim, making it the largest forest fire in the history of the northern German state. The affected area include a former military training area near Lübtheen that was heavily contaminated with ammunition, which makes the extinguishing considerably difficult.
