In the sanctions tracker, financial sanctions refer to the individual/entities included in the consolidated list of persons, groups and entities subject to EU financial sanctions, managed and updated by the Commission, reflecting the officially adopted texts published in the Official Journal.

Travel ban

Travel bans are a type of sanctions, which restrict the admission within the EU of designated individuals. In the sanctions tracker, travel bans refer to the individual/entities included in the consolidated list of persons subject, under EU sanctions, to travel restrictions, managed and updated by the Commission, reflecting the officially adopted texts published in the Official Journal.

Regime

A regime in the sanctions tracker refers to a specific sanctions regime in place in the EU. Some regimes are based on UN measures, which the EU transposes into EU law (such as the sanctions regime against Iraq). The EU may also reinforce the UN sanctions regimes by applying additional measures (as was the case with North Korea). The EU may also impose fully autonomous sanctions regimes (such as those imposed for actions undermining or threatening the territorial integrity of Ukraine). In addition, the EU has also adopted horizontal regimes targeting specific activities (such as terrorism). See the EU sanctions map for the full list of regimes.

A nationality in the sanctions tracker refers to the citizenship of a natural person who, under EU sanctions, is subject to financial sanctions and/or a travel ban. Note that this is the nationality as indicated in the EU sanctions regulations and the nationality is not available for all designated individuals.
