The academy in 2026: Introducing a new learning journey for open data

Discover learning paths that guide you in deepening your open data knowledge step by step

The data.europa academy is the official learning platform of The European Data Portal. It  is a free knowledge and training hub for anyone working with, or interested in, open data. We are continuously striving to ensure that the academy meets your needs and provides you with the bestlearning experience.

Looking ahead to the 2026 academy year, much remains familiar: we will continue to organise  webinars every month, exploring new and enriching themes. But this year also brings something entirely new. Early in 2026, we will introducenew features with a major update we have been developing to offer you a more engaging and more accessible learning experience.

The updated academy introduces structured learning paths that help you strengthen your knowledge of open data at your own pace. Whether you work in the public sector, are studying, or simply have an interest in data, the platform offers clear, step‑by‑step guidance. The new learning environment covers topics such as the essentials of open data, legal frameworks, and improving data quality and interoperability. Embedded directly within the European Data Portal, the update will show how open data connects to real‑life challenges and opportunities. At the end of each path, you will earn a certificate that recognises your progress and support your professional development.

Interested in discovering what this academy update can offer you? Keep an eye on our social media channels, where we will share information about the launch. You can also visit the European Data Portal to explore the academy and soon discover the learning journeys as they go live.
