New State Agency in charge of Open Data in Bulgaria
Speeding up the introduction of eGovernment services
Following a decision taken by the Bulgarian Parliament in 2016, a new eGovernment Agency has recently been established in Bulgaria. The agency is the successor of the Electronic Governance Directorate within the Ministry of Transport, Information Technologies and Communications and the Executive Agency for Electronic Communication Networks and Information Systems.
The new agency is responsible for the implementation of projects related to electronic governance as well as coordination of national policies in the area with the EU requirements and practices. It shall perform activities related to issuing policies, regulations and good practices in the area of electronic governance, strategic planning, sector related policies and interdepartmental projects. The maintenance and further development of the Bulgarian Open Data portal, as well as the Open Data national policy, was also transferred to the newly created State e-Government Agency.
