DigitalGlobe published satellite images of the explosion in Beirut in order to support the humanitarian community
The Earth imaging company DigitalGlobe launched the Open Data Platform initiative to support the humanitarian community. In times of sudden major crises or pandemic, the DigitalGlobe publishes satellite imagery, including pre-event imagery, post-event imagery and a crowdsourced damage assessment, to support humanitarian action, for example. The images are published into the public domain under a Creative Commons 4.0 license, allowing for rapid use and easy integration with existing humanitarian response technologies.
Recently, the Open Data Platform published imagery related to the massive explosion in Beirut. The goal of publishing these images is to support the humanitarian community by providing critical and actionable information to assist response efforts.
