Second webinar in the EU Datathon series

Featuring Per Nymand-Andersen from the European Central Bank

On 12 May, the EU Datathon 2021 hosted their second webinar. Per Nymand-Andersen from the European Central Bank presented this dataset, which addresses challenge 2: ‘An economy that works for the people’.

The EU Datathon is an annual open data competition open to data enthusiasts worldwide. To enter the competition, participants are invited to send ideas for applications that use open datasets and address one of three thematic challenges, aligned with the priorities of the European Commission.

Challenge 2: ‘An economy that works for the people’

The EU’s unique social market economy enables economies to grow whilst also reducing poverty and inequality. With Europe on a stable footing, the economy can fully respond to the needs of people in the EU. The second challenge of the EU Datathon specifically invites open data solutions that show how open data can support this effort.

Examples of solution are applications (or services) for the public, for businesses, or for public administrations that create a fairer economy and monetary union, that boost investment and help address unemployment. To address this challenge, participants should make use of at least one dataset from data.europa.eu (i.e. EU Open Data Portal and the European Data Portal) and combine it with any other publicly available dataset(s).
