Insights into data.gouv.fr
Last week, the European Data Portal (EDP) and Support Centre for Data Sharing (SCDS) team were joined by Antonin Garrone from Etalab, the organisation that manages the French Open Data Portal (data.gouv.fr), for a Data Talks session. In the session, Antonin shared some of Etalab’s insights from last year and discussed the recent open data efforts in response to COVID-19.
As a result of the pandemic, the French Open Data Portal witnessed a surge in data requests, as well as re-use initiatives by the private sector. These initiatives include applications such as dashboards, maps, Twitter bots, and research studies. Although the portal holds a wealth of high-quality data already, Antonin acknowledged that convincing public sector data holders to publish their data remains challenging and Etalab devoted a special taskforce to support this process in the future.
Listen to the session’s recording to get more insights from Antonin and Etalab about open data in France.
