eGovernment at the local and regional level

Discuss the new eGovernment Action Plan

On 20 of September, the European Commission and the Commission for Social Policy, Education, Employment, Research and Culture (SEDEC) of the Committee of the Regions, are organising a workshop in Brussels to discuss the new eGovernment Action Plan 2016-2020. During this workshop the new plan will be presented and detailed attention will be given to its implementation, in particular the dynamic aspects. With this workshop, the organisers expect to show how the Action Plan can be of use and benefit for all levels of public administration from European to local.

In the morning, the participants will get to know the Action Plan thanks to several presentations. They will be informed how they can participate and contribute to the ongoing evolution of the Action Plan. To give a tangible impression of the Action Plan, the presentations will include examples and use cases on a number of relevant applications, for example the delivery of cross-border public services. During the meeting a number of specific topics will be addressed such as the availability of Open Data, how governments can pursue their digital transformation and how to involve civil stakeholders in the co-creation process.

In the afternoon the eGovernment4EU platform will be presented, a forum in which participants are invited to come up with practical suggestions and proposals. These plans can be submitted to the European Commission or Member States on the spot or by participants who have joined remotely. The suggestions brought in during the workshop will be assessed in order to be presented to the eGovernment Steering Board as possible new actions in the Action Plan.
