Europe Day: Celebrate the anniversary of the European Union!

Europe day celebrates peace and unity in Europe and marks the official start of the European Year of Skills

Today is Europe Day, which celebrates peace and unity in Europe and marks the anniversary of forming a political cooperation in Europe that ultimately led to the creation of the European Union. To celebrate, the ‘European Year of Skills Festival’ will be held at 14:00 CET, officially marking the start of the European Year of Skills 2023.

This year’s celebration highlights the importance of a skilled workforce and aims to address skills shortages in the EU. It promotes reskilling and upskilling and helps people acquire the right skills for quality jobs. Skilled workers will enjoy better job opportunities and fully engage in society, leading to a more a socially fair and just society, where people can develop crucial skills.

To make this happen, a variety of EU initiatives has been set up, working together with different parties such as social partners, employment services or education and training providers. One of these initiatives is the Digital Skills and Jobs platform offering information and resources to train digital skills, get inspired and join communities. Recently, they launched the cyber skills academy as a single point of entry for cybersecurity training offers, certifications and job opportunities to close the cybersecurity talent gap.
