Outcome of the European Big Data Forum in Vienna
On 12 to 14 November, the European Big Data Value Forum was hosted in Vienna, Austria. The Forum is an annual key European event for industry professionals, business developers, researchers and policymakers to discuss the challenges and opportunities that the European Data Economy is facing. The European Data Portal was represented at this year's Forum to provide more information on the EDP and the open data maturity in Europe.
This year, selected keynote speakers such as Minister Norbert Hofer, Austrian Federal Minister for Transport, Innovation and Technology, and Mark Shuttleworth, founder of Thawte and product design lead in Ubuntu, discussed topics such as digital innovation, data reliability, responsible AI, operational excellence in the age of AI, smart manufacturing and the opportunities and challenges in the use of Big Data and Public Sector Information.
The Forum also extensively discussed Europe's ambitions to become a global AI leader. To achieve this, Europe needs focus more on responsibility, ethics and regulation and harness the value of big data and promote the role of innovation in the data economy through policies and collaboration. This will be key in the next years.
