Activation reason:
On the 17 May 2023 at 21:44, an wildfire is reported to have affected the provinces of Caceres, Spain. The fire that started in the municipality of Pinofranqueado has already burned about 8000 ha and several populations have been evacuated preventively, affecting about 700 people and about 200 have been sheltered. Roads are closed and extraordinary means of extinction are acting. Copernicus EMS Rapid Mapping is requested to provide wildfire extent and damage assessment emergency mapping.
