High-value dataset dashboard: Helping users explore Europe’s most valuable open data

The European Data Portal launches an interactive tool to track and discover high-value datasets across Europe

The High-value dataset dashboard on the European Data Portal offers a new way to explore high-value datasets (HVDs) published across Europe. The dashboard provides an overview of datasets covered by the EU’s HVD Implementing Regulation, allowing users to view information by country, category, metadata quality and data format. It helps public authorities, businesses, researchers and citizens better understand the availability of some of Europe’s most impactful public-sector data.

HVDs are a key element of the European strategy for data, which aims to make public-sector information more accessible and reusable. These datasets have significant potential to generate social, environmental and economic benefits and are organised into six thematic categories: geospatial, earth observation and environment, meteorological, statistics, mobility, and companies and company ownership. The new dashboard enables users to navigate these categories and access related datasets directly from the portal.

The dashboard also strengthens transparency around open data publication in Europe. By highlighting metadata quality, available formats and country-level contributions, it supports better understanding of how HVDs are being made available for reuse. In line with the HVDs Regulation, many of these datasets are provided free of charge, in machine-readable formats and, where applicable, through application programming interfaces, making them easier to access and integrate into innovative services.

Whether you are looking for data to support research, develop new applications or monitor the implementation of open data policies, the dashboard provides a valuable starting point. Explore the HVD dashboard today and discover the growing collection of high-value datasets available through the European Data Portal.
