Importance of Open Data in Bulgaria

Bulgarian Interior Minister Rumiana Bachvarova and UK Ambassador for Bulgaria Emma Hopkins discuss Open Data

Minister Rumiana Bachvarova and Ambassador Emma Hopkins opened the conference #TimeForData in Sofia, Bulgaria.

The event was dedicated to exploring the benefits Open Data brings to the work of the government and businesses in Bulgaria.

Antonio Acuña, head of https://data.gov.uk/ and special guest for the event, stressed that Open Data is the currency of transparency, while Minister Bachvarova said that the latest European Commission study on Open Data Maturity rates Bulgaria in the EU top ten.

Ambassador Hopkins added that Open Data contributes to the provision of better services to the public, the development of better government policies on the basis of current data and the promotion of business and innovation.
