Find out the key highlights of the webinar ‘From theory to action: automatic data publishing’
On Friday 20 January 2023, the webinar ‘From theory to action: automatic data publishing’ was hosted by data.europa academy. This webinar was the fifth of a series of six trainings organised by data.europa academy to support data providers in the data publishing process. This webinar focused on automatic data publishing and was presided over by Simon Dutkowski and Torben Jastrow from Fraunhofer FOKUS and Bart Hanssens, Interoperability expert, Interoperable Europe. Open data enthusiasts and representatives of various EU institutions and European national public administrations participated in the webinar.
The webinar detailed on how to describe metadata with the DCAT-AP data model with illustrations, emphasising its requirements. Thereafter, automated data publishing was explained followed by the topics, pull and push methods, harvesting and API respectively. Finally, best practices related to automated publishing were shared. It was also instructed that regardless of the choices made for the internal management of datasets, all metadata published on data.europa.eu, must be encoded using the DCAT-AP data model.
In the second part of the webinar, Bart Hanssens dove into data publishing on data.europa.eu and the benefits for local/regional/national portal owners. He highlighted that data providers are not on their own and can find support from the EU data portal team and other portal owners.
The webinar concluded with an interactive Q&A session and a summary of the discussions.
