Ireland opens E-Health Open Data portal

The portal includes data from a range of sources

On 3 August, the eHealth Ireland Open Data Portal went live. This portal has over 300 Open Data sources available, and makes it easy to find and access data from across the Irish Health Sector. This includes information such as a health services directory, statistics on hospital day and patient cases, national waiting lists and overall, the health related Irish issues.

By visiting data.ehealthireland.ie you will find datasets from the Department of Health and HealthLink. These are high-quality datasets, all compliant with the Open Health Data Policy that the Irish Government published in June 2016. The Open Health Data Policy creates an overarching framework for the accessibility and availability of Open Data within the Irish Health Sector. It ensures that a consistent approach is taken for the release of Open Data across the Health Service Executive, in line with National Guidelines.

The publication of Irish Public Sector data in open, free and reusable formats is recognised as a key element of the Public Service Reform agenda in Ireland. Through the national and regional Open Data portals, citizens can access raw public-sector data, and gain insights into the operation of public organisations and services. All datasets published on this eHealth Ireland Open Data Portal are harvested to and available on the national Open Data portal.
