Participate in the EUspace4Ukraine hackathon and support people fleeing from war
To provide or enhance humanitarian help to people fleeing Ukraine, the European Union Agency for the Space Programme's (EUSPA) is organising the #EUSpace4Ukraine Hackathon.
The hackathon, which will take place from 29 June to 1 July 2022, aims at developing different kinds of humanitarian support solutions: from replacing broken landlines on the Ukrainian territory, to fostering coordination across private and public helper organisations and creating platforms for the integration of refugees in host countries.
These solutions should leverage data and services from the EU Space Programme, such as the freely accessible data from the global satellite navigation and positioning system Galileo or the European Earth Observation system Copernicus. EUSPA market development professionals will be supporting participants in the hackathon with accessing and using this data. Participation is open to any NGO, academic institute, application developer, and young entrepreneur from the EU-27 Member States, including Switzerland, Norway and Iceland.
This hackathon will complement the EUSpace4Ukraine platform, which currently helps to gather technological solutions supporting provision of humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian people. In fact, the platform matches solution owners with NGOs and other helpers by allowing innovators, start-ups, and application developers to list their apps on the platform, and NGOs to reach out to developers.
