InfringEye – using data to understand EU infringement proceedings

Member States that fail to comply with EU law risk getting fined. However, infringements entail not only economic costs – they can also affect citizens’ quality of life (most are to do with the environment and transport).

InfringEye helps journalists, stakeholders and individuals track legal action taken by the European Commission against Member States. They can sort by country, status and topic of interest. It also helps journalists put data into context so they can uncover stories worth writing about.

The tool offers:

• datasets highlighting key aspects of the infringements
• freely available visualisations
• a detailed report.
