Open Data Maturity in Europe 2019
The Open Data Maturity (ODM) Report 2019 was published in December 2019. This report is the fifth annual report measuring the level of open data maturity across Europe. It records the progress achieved by European countries (which can be seen on the ODM dashboard) as they move forward with open data publication and re-use and the different priorities they have set to support it. The countries covered by this assessment include the 2019 EU28 Member States, as well as the EFTA countries: Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. Decín municipality wins Open x Closed award
On 30 September, the Czech municipality of Decín was decorated in the OPEN x CLOSED Competition for its policies on openness. In this competition, Czech public authorities, institutions and personalities compete with each other to identify and applaud the most open body. In the fourteenth edition of the competition, both the jury and public identified Decín as the leading authority in this field. And the Prague Hacks winner is... Real Reality!
Eleven applications based on Prague Open Data were created during the three-day long programming marathon Prague Hacks. Developers, idea makers, data analysts and urbanists worked together and used Prague Open Data to search for new ideas. The programming marathon took place between 30 September and 2 October and hosted around 70 participants and mentors. Prague Hackers could work with the datasets from Prague Open Data Catalogue that contains data about the location of public transport vehicles, timetables, and data about parking in the city, air pollution, road maintenance or ZOO. French Open Data Trophies
With the adoption of the Draft law for a Digital Republic ( Projet de loi pour une République numérique) the French government is embracing Open Data as a key element in its policies. United Kingdom releases a new Digital Strategy
The United Kingdom government recognises data as the lifeblood of their digital economy with the adoption of their new Digital Strategy. The Bertelsmann foundation has published a new study on Open Data: Open Data - Wertschöpfung im digitalen Zeitalter (Open Data - Value creation in the digital age).
