"Cultural adventure on the palm" in Ljubljana, Slovenia
The best teams presented their solutions at the "Slovenian Tourism Day"
The hackathon "Cultural adventure on the palm" was successfully held in Ljubljana, Slovenia on 29 and 30 September 2018. This event was organised by the Ministry of Public Administration, the Ministry of Culture and the Slovenian Tourist Board to create a conceptual design of an IT solution that enables better promotion and experience of Slovenian cultural heritage in tourism through the visualisation of Open Data. There were three sets of challenges:
- Connecting offers of different types of heritage (including digital) and integration of less known heritage in less-favoured tourist destinations, including outside peak season or seasonally adjusted.
- Connecting heritage and gastronomy: Slovenia - European gastronomic region 2021 or Taste sLOVEnia.
- Greater connection of heritage in Slovenia on international lists, such as UNESCO and the European Heritage Label, with the local offer.
The event brought together 48 young programmers, designers, experts and cultural heritage and tourism lovers to compete in developing solutions on the principle of open innovation. Solutions were created and delivered by nine teams, and the three best teams presented their solutions at Slovenian Tourism Days in Portorož on 9 October 2018. Find more information about the event.
