French governments' Open Data budget will more than double in 2016

The French Etalab Mission will have a budget of €2.5 million for 2016, compared to the €1 million budget for 2015

The Etalab Mission aims to promote open public data in French: statistics of all kinds, election results, budget information, etc.

The goal of Etalab is to support the authorities in working towards Open Data, so that every citizen can access information obtained by public bodies.

The extra budget is needed for further development of the French Open Data Portal, exploring the possibilities of Open Science and the preparations of French being the presidency of the Open Government Partnership (OGP) in 2016.
