Data spaces: experience from the Public Procurement Data Space

Public procurement plays a crucial role in the EU economy, with over 250,000 public authorities collectively spending roughly €2 trillion each year—equating to about 13.6% of the EU's GDP—on various goods, services, and projects. 

In this session, we explored the Public Procurement Data Space (PPDS), a federated and interoperable infrastructure designed to link data across the EU. The PPDS aims to enhance transparency and facilitate evidence-based decision-making. Our experts discussed the implementation of the PPDS, including the technical and governance frameworks that underpin it, and showcased how it is already being utilised to improve transparency, assess policies, and drive innovation in public services.
