Our academy courses that teach about how open data makes an impact

Learn how to become an agent of change with open data

Our data.europa.eu Academy offers a wide spectrum of courses on how open data can help make an impact. Open data can help address public challenges such as healthcare, climate change, and urban planning. It enables informed decision-making and targeted interventions, like with COVID-19 measures. On our Academy page, it is possible to filter per theme, where it shows eight courses on the Impact theme.

For beginners, we have developed the courses ‘Introducing open data’ and ‘Introducing data visualisation. With different e-learning lessons and webinars to teach users about how open data can foster innovation and entrepreneurship, but also how you can make a compelling case with data visualisation. For our developers or entrepreneurs, the course ‘Creating your business with open data’ will help you understand the full value of open data, like with our lesson on ‘Managing change in open data’.

Users who are more advanced, can follow our lesson ‘Understanding public data demand in the public sector, part of the course ‘Understanding data governance with open data’. The value of open data in the public sector is further explained with our course on ‘Measuring the impact of open data’. New content was added here, as the data.europa team hosted the webinar ‘Open data maturity 2023: best practices across Europe’ in February, where Serbia and Slovakia shared their open data experiences.

Other courses that are of interest to become an expert in using open data for impact are ‘Moving towards data spaces’, ‘Including data in your communication’, and ‘Inspiring through data visualisation. Throughout the year, new lessons will be added to the courses of data.europa.eu Academy, so stay tuned for new events to help you become an expert in open data!
