New funds available for Public Open Data projects
The Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) in Telecom is an EU programme to facilitate cross-border interaction between public administrations, businesses and citizens, through the deployment of Digital Service Infrastructures. One of its aims is to support projects which contribute to the European ecosystem of the deployed interoperable and interconnected digital services. Under this framework, Public Open Data is identified as one of the priorities, for which a budget of €3.5 million has been allocated in 2016 for projects around this topic. The grants covering 50 per cent of costs will help both

Mobility Open Data now available in Luxembourg
Arriving on time! The national Open Data portal of Luxembourg now includes Open Data covering public transportation schedules and associated geographic information. The dataset originates from the Verkéiersverbond (Traffic community), which represents public interests in the field of mobility in Luxembourg. The data is published in the General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) format. The content of the dataset and the standardised GTFS format enable app developers to build new mobility applications. Opening up cultural heritage data
On 23 November 2017, the Bibliothèque Nationale de France (BnF) published a set of APIs (application programming interface) via which the data of the French National Library can now be more easily accessed. The APIs allow users to query and retrieve catalogue metadata from the BnF main catalogue, from the portal data.bnf.fr and from the digital library Gallica. Furthermore, the APIs also allow access to the digitised collections of the French National Library. AgID published Italian INSPIRE Registry
In November 2017, the Agency for Digital Italy (AgID) has published the Italian INSPIRE Registry. The launch was carried out in cooperation with the National Institute for Environmental Protection and Research (ISPRA) and the Ministry of Environment. The success of authoritative reference codes depends on providing these codes in an open and consistent way, so that they can be readily reused in information systems. Diverse winners at the Open Minds Awards in Austria
Drawingdata, Rheologic and Tei Abstracts are the winners of the Austrian Open Minds Awards 2017. The competition, hosted by Open Knowledge Austria, awarded successful Open Data businesses and projects. It proves that successful Open Data projects come in many forms and shapes. Drawingdata was acknowledged for its innovative data visualisations on political data. Rheologic's computational fluid dynamics and 3D models impressed the jury, helping spatial planning in urban areas. Ireland launches Open Data Engagement Fund
The Irish Minister of State for Public Procurement, Open Government and eGovernment announced new specifications of the 2017/2018 Open Data Engagement Fund. The Open Data Engagement Fund was initiated in cooperation with the Open Data Governance Board (ODGB). This competitive Fund (worth €30,000 in total) aims to promote Open Data use on Ireland's national Open Data portal. Currently, this portal hosts about 5,500 datasets that are also available on the European Data Portal.
