The public sector is not only a large supplier of Open Data, it is also one of the largest users and beneficiaries of releasing government data. The report "The Value of Open Data for Administrations" published on Datos.gob.es provides a number of examples of how public administrations can rely on data to gather feedback, better collaborate and optimise processes. The report highlights how the use of Open Data improves the efficiency and effectiveness of the administration itself, through better planning of available resources, collaboration between different departmental areas, improving the
Singapore enjoys its first National Data Visualisation Video Challenge
On 1 October, Singapore's Government Technology Agency (GovTech) awarded the winners of the first National Data Visualisation Video Challenge. This student competition focused on "How Open Data makes a difference for you and me". European Data Portal among Europe's success stories of eGovernment and Digital Public Services
On 6 October 2017, all European Union Member States and EFTA countries signed the 'eGovernment Declaration' in Tallinn. New report and webinar on metadata
Metadata help us to categorise and find datasets in a consistent manner. The European Commission published a new report on DCAT-AP extensions in the light of its ISA 2 programme. DCAT-AP refers to the Data Catalog Vocabulary (DCAT) Application Profile for data portals in Europe (AP). It uses standardised metadata for describing public sector datasets in data catalogues. DCAT-AP enables the harmonised exchange of descriptions of datasets among data portals, and promotes data findability, cross-reference and interoperability between data catalogues on the web. The report looks into the national

In Austria, Vienna's Open Government programme is implementing one of the first public sector Blockchains. The city is experimenting with Blockchain in order to gain experience and explore broader implementation opportunities. By publishing the checksums that verify the Open Government Wien
How Poland fosters Open Data implementation
Among other countries, Poland demonstrated rapid growth of Open Data availability in 2017. Currently, the European Data Portal incorporates almost 5000 datasets from Poland, partially stemming from the renewed National Open Data Portal of Poland. The successful increase of datasets may be explained by the initiated implementation monitoring process. Every year, Open Data officers are obliged to evaluate the implementation process and present the realised undertakings in the area of Open Data. Based on this information, the Ministry of Digital Affairs draws up a final implementation report that
