On 27 January, Hans Graux from Timelex joined the European Data Portal (EDP) and the Support Centre for Data Sharing (SCDS) team for a Data Talks session discussing contract terms for data sharing. Timelex is a law firm specialised in IT infrastructures and operates as the legal expert for the EDP and SCDS. During the talk, Hans discusses why model contract terms are needed and how they are relevant to Europe’s ambition for European Data Spaces. Datagraver – the Dutch COVID-19 monitoring tool
On 21 January, the Dutch National Data Portal held a webinar discussing the impact of measures undertaken to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, and the role that data plays in these efforts. During the webinar, one of the discussed initiatives for this purpose was Datagraver. Datagraver is a project that harvests and scrapes data from various online government pages and databases to create figures and dashboards. On 26 January, the European Data Portal (EDP) hosted a final episode for the first season of the Future of Open Data Portals series. The team was joined by Lucy Knight from The Data Place for a session titled: “Data doesn’t drive, people do”. The motto of the session was: “Go ugly, early”. In the talk, Lucy advocates for the idea that it is the people, not the data, that define the problems data can help solve, set the assumptions, and draw conclusions. IDEA: the International Data & Economic Analysis from USAID
The International Data & Economic Analysis (IDEA) is a database website created by The United State Agency for International Development (USAID) that provides access to country level data across the globe.
