Open Data Training Framework now available to Public Bodies in Ireland
Under Ireland's Open Data Initiative and as set out in Ireland's Open Data Strategy 2017-2022, public bodies are to identify and publish appropriate datasets on the web as Open Data. Ireland's Open Data mission is to encourage and drive the uptake and use of Open Data. In doing so, Open Data Ireland aims at adding value to the economy by increasing transparency, stimulating new business applications, building trust in government and improving the lives of citizens through better service delivery. Italy makes list of key databases available
Thanks to a joint effort of l' Agenzia per l'Italia Digitale and the Team per la Trasformazione Digitale, Italy has made a list of key databases available that are already freely accessible or will be opened in the near future. This list is now available for consultation online, and is one of the actions outlined in the three-year plan initiated by the Italian government towards promoting Open Data and information technology in public administrations. Experiment with city data to solve urban challenges
The EU project OrganiCity provides a service for experimentation that explores how citizens, businesses and city authorities can work together to create digital solutions to urban challenges. The project is now open for applications to experiment with urban data. Your idea for an experiment can receive up to 60.000 Euros to support the technical integration across the three cities that participate in the project - Aarhus (Denmark), London (United Kingdom) and Santander (Spain) - plus expand into new cities. Ireland publishes new eGovernment strategy
The Irish government is to develop a central gateway for eGovernment services, offering an easy way to access services from across the country's public administrations. The 'Digital Service Gateway' is one of ten priorities set out in the eGovernment Strategy 2017 - 2020, published on 27 July. Other priorities include continued development of the Open Data portal. Bulgaria to add 149 data sets to Open Data portal
Over the next five months, the government of Bulgaria will add 149 data sets to the country's Open Data portal, as the country's state eGovernment agency SEGA announced. New high-priority data sets, as defined by the Bulgarian government, include automatically recorded traffic data, municipal finances, and municipal data sets on education, ecology and transport. Making its data accessible to citizens and business improves government openness and increases accountability, as stated by SEGA on 3 August. Meet the European Data Portal at the INSPIRE Conference
From 4-8 September, the European Data Portal will be present at the INSPIRE Conference, taking place in Kehl, Germany (on 4-5 September) and Strasbourg, France (on 6-8 September). Czech Republic publishes Open Data impact study
The Czech Republic has published the results of their Open Data impact study aiming at measuring the impact of Open Data in four different areas: the social dimension, the economic dimension, the environmental dimension and the political dimension. This study is based on datasets registered in the Czech National Open Data Portal, international impact metrics and measuring mechanisms from the Open Data Barometer, the Global Open Data Index and the Open Data Maturity in Europe study published by the European Data Portal. Ireland opens E-Health Open Data portal
On 3 August, the eHealth Ireland Open Data Portal went live. This portal has over 300 Open Data sources available, and makes it easy to find and access data from across the Irish Health Sector. This includes information such as a health services directory, statistics on hospital day and patient cases, national waiting lists and overall, the health related Irish issues. By visiting data.ehealthireland.ie you will find datasets from the Department of Health and HealthLink. These are high-quality datasets, all compliant with the Open Health Data Policy that the Irish Government published in June

Sicily launches Open Data portal
As already highlighted in the recent European Data Portal report on Open Data and Cities: not only national governments, but also cities and regions are progressing with regard to Open Data. This is now again underlined by the Italian region of Sicily, who just launched its new Open Data portal. The portal is the point of access for Open Data on the areas of activity of the regional public administrations in Sicily. In the period from 24-30 September, the 24th edition of the Festival of Information Technology Achievements will be held in Budva, Montenegro.
