From Invisible City app to Invisible City Platform
Invisible City App has been created by the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC), a non-profit network to promote European values and contribute to cultural diversity. The app publishes "meaningful, curated cultural events" to help citizens and tourists discover hidden places or events in European metropolises. The app does not require a log-in or any personal data and does not track which events users select. Open Data to improve preventive medicine in neonatology
A team of researchers at ISCTE- University Institute of Lisbon in Portugal is developing a new PhD programme at the Science and Information Technology department. The focus lies on multimodal data collection and advanced processing. The project aims at collecting and processing data to improve preventive medicine in neonatology. The team's goal is to develop an IT system using predictive algorithms to monitor babies' growth and development to identify potential health issues and to propose corrective measures. World Bank's new data catalogue
The World Bank's new data catalogue provides access to over 3,000 datasets and includes microdata, time series statistics and geospatial data. The catalogue is part of the Open Data initiative launched by the World Bank in 2010. This new catalogue is an extension of the existing World Bank Open Data portal and includes datasets that were previously unpublished due to restrictions on re-use. Rather than leaving the data unpublished the World Bank now decided to make many of them available and document any restrictions on how they can be used. Trenìt is back online
On 6 September 2019 the mobile application Trenìt became operational again after winning a dispute against Trenitalia. Trenìt is a service with a mobile application and an adjoining website, launched in 2014, that searches for and shows users the train schedules and prices of journeys across Italy. The website was created by a start-up that is part of TechHub London, a European start-up incubator that is sponsored by Google. Earlier in 2019, Trenitalia sued Trenìt on the charge that they were infringing copyright law by using data from the subsidiary of Ferrovie on the service. Following this

Looking back at the Open Data Days in Düsseldorf
On 5 July 2019, the Open Data Days Düsseldorf (ODDD2019) took place in the central library of Düsseldorf, Germany. ODDD2019 is an annual international event to promote awareness and use of open data. €41 million EU investment to connect Europe digitally
On 26 April 2019, the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) programme published the Implementation Decision on the selection of proposals and award of grants under the CEF Telecommunications sector. A total of 83 projects are selected to receive a total co-funding of €41 by the European Union. The overall objective of these projects is to create a European ecosystem of interoperable digital services that make the Digital Single Market work in practice. Countdown for the 2018 CEF Telecom Call - Public Open Data: Four weeks until deadline
The European Union, under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) programme, launched a call for proposals making EU funding available through grants to improve the interoperability and interconnectivity of the European digital service ecosystem. The 2018 CEF Telecom Public Open Data call (CEF-TC-2018-5) makes EUR18.5 million of funding available for proposals in this area. The deadline for submission is 15 November.
