Offener Haushalt is a German website that increases transparency, specifically in terms of government spending, by visualising how much the state spends on which posts. It incorporates budgetary data at the federal, state, and municipal level. The website was created to increase transparency in the public sector in Germany. This has resulted from, for example, the fact that there is no specified format for these datasets and that they often remain behind government doors. Ukraine’s Open Data Decree marks its 5th anniversary
Five years ago, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine passed Decree No. 835, paving the way for the development of a robust Ukrainian open data sphere. The Decree increases transparency in the procedure for making government data available and indicates which datasets governments are expected to publish on a regular basis. This led to the creation of the Ukrainian National Open Data Portal and spurred the development of new innovative products and services. In December 2020, the EDP team were joined by Mathilde Hoang, Mario Restuccia, and Antonin Garrone from the French National Open Data Portal ( data.gouv.fr) for an episode of the Future of Open Data Portals webinar series. During the talk, the teams discussed their work at Etalab and their role in creating the data.gouv.fr portal. This portal is one of the main pillars of the French public data strategy and provides access to 35k+ datasets of over 2500 publishers, and 2400+ re uses. The European AI on Demand Platform and Ecosystem (AI4EU), is an initiative that collects the most critical AI challenges among European industry and supports these ideas in obtaining EU funding. Next week on Wednesday 13 January 2021 at 11:00 CET, the European Data Portal and Support Centre for Data Sharing will host Data Talks on the “ Open Data Maturity 2020 Report” to discuss its methodology, results and implications. On 16 December 2020, the EDP team published their sixth benchmark study: “ Open Data Maturity 2020 Report”. This annual report assesses the level of open data maturity across Europe and shows the progress achieved by European countries in the promotion of open data publication and re-use.
