European Big Data Hackathon to take place in Brussels
The European Big Data Hackathon will gather teams from all over Europe to compete for the best data product combining official statistics and big data to support policy makers in one pressing policy question facing Europe. The Hackathon will take place in Brussels from 13 to 15 March 2017, back to back with the NTTS 2017. Teams of three members are to be proposed by National Statistical Institutes and can include members of the national data science community, staff of the statistical office or a partnership of both. Slovenia launches new Open Data portal
At the end of 2016, the Slovenian Ministry of Public Administration presented their new Open Data portal. On this portal, called 'OPSI - Odprti podatki Slovenije', Open Data of the whole Slovenian public sector is brought together and made available to the public. The portal, built on Open Source software, is an indirect successor of the National Interoperability Framework Portal. While this portal already presented an extensive number of Open Data sets, providing Open Data was not its core activity. Norway's Open Data guidelines just got more demanding!
The Norwegian Government has just released their updated Open Data guidelines for public organisations. These guidelines are raising the game for Open Data in Norway and are built upon international best practices - in particular the Share-PSI and W3C data on the web best practices. The guidelines are included in the 'Circular on Digitisation' which all State Public Bodies are obliged to follow. Consultation to build tomorrow's digital policy

Very often, the success of a new policy depends on the local or regional implementation and adoption. The Agency for Digital Italy and the Steering Committee OT11-OT2 are organising three webinars on the exploitation of public information assets in the Italian regions.
