Outcome of AI in Practice event in Amsterdam
Last Thursday 8 November, University of Amsterdam's Start-up Village hosted AI in Practice. This event discussed the current resistances to implementing AI and how these challenges can be overcome to unleash the technologies potential and empower professionals. One issue discussed in the event was the need for Open Data. Training AI models requires large volumes of good quality data to produce valuable output. Release of DCAT - Application Profile final version 1.2
The updated version of DCAT-AP (1.2) is now available on the community space Joinup. This new version implements minor change requests to the DCAT-AP (1.1) that were submitted to the ISA 2 Programme of the European Commission in line with the Change and Release Management Policy for DCAT-AP. Open Data Standards elaborated by Polish Ministry of Digital Affairs
The Polish Ministry of Digital Affairs published their Open Data standards to ensure that higher quality of data is being provided by the public administration. Public Open Data standards for the administration were developed as part of the project " Open Data - access, standard, education", which aims to properly prepare and share data for re-use. This includes guidelines on: Application Programming Interface (API) Standard that defines minimum recommendations to public authorities regarding the API for the access to databases that store public data. Just released: Open Data Maturity across Europe
The " Open Data Maturity in Europe Report 2018: New horizons for Open Data driven transformation", published by the European Data Portal and led by Capgemini Invent on behalf of the European Commission, highlights how Open Data can be used as a strategic asset to enable successful transformation. The annual report measures the state of play of Open Data in Europe and sheds light into the progress made by European countries with regards to their Open Data activities. Linked Open Statistical Data in the European Union
The project Linked Open Statistics and the European Commission are hosting the event Linked Open Statistical Data in the European Union on 14 and 15 January 2019. This event will provide a high-level view of the progress on creating Linked Data ecosystems for governmental statistical data and will discuss the challenges and opportunities that arise from this work. Saemes: A French platform to find parking spaces
Saemes is a French platform that provides users with real-time parking information within Paris. Through the service, users can find the nearest available parking space to their location, or to where they want to go, and the best travel route. In addition, Saemes also allows users to reserve a parking space to save time in selected parking areas. The service acquires data from different local authorities and institutions on the different parking garages and car parks within Paris.
