The European register for protected data helps users find public sector data that cannot be shared as open data. Available via the European Data Portal, the register brings together metadata from across the EU, indicating what data exists and how access can be requested. Established under the Data Governance Act, it improves transparency and discoverability, while respecting privacy, confidentiality and intellectual property rules, supporting responsible data reuse for research, innovation and public-interest activities.
