PublicaMundi is a research project that aims to make open geospatial data easy to publish, view, and re-use, to build value added services. PublicaMundi builds on open source software for geospatial data management, using tools such as Rasdaman and PostGIS to support promoting geospatial data. All the software, publications, and data on PublicaMundi are offered with an open knowledge license to support the work of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), researchers, and the geospatial data community. Prague City Data Congress 2019
On 30 and 31 May, Prague hosted the Prague City Data Congress (PCDC) 2019 with the theme: data for conscious smart city. PCDC was organised by two key municipal companies: Operátor ICT, who is responsible for Smart City solutions, and the Prague Institute of Planning and Development. Looking back at the EU Datathon 2019
On 13 June, the EU Datathon 2019 took place in Brussels, Belgium. Twelve finalists from across Europe pitched their ideas to the jury and visitors. The finalists were tasked with developing applications that offer new insights or services in one of the three challenges: innovative ideas through EU open data; new insights into economics and finance; tackling climate change. The competition was organised by the EU's Publications Office, in partnership with the Romanian Presidency of the EU Council. City of Amsterdam showcases open data applications
On 17 June, DataLab Amsterdam hosted the meetup " SCORE - open data applications for Amsterdam and Europe". SCORE - Smart Cities Open Data Re-use - is a European Union (EU) funded project that started in 2014. In the project, nine cities in the North Sea Region work together to increase the efficiency and quality of public services. The nine cities develop solutions for public service challenges that are based on open data, and that improve public sector delivery. Explore cities by bike with Bike Citizens
Bike Citizens is a free bike navigation application that was created in 2011. The application provides cycling routes in more than 450 cities worldwide. It shows users how to get to their preferred destination and lets users choose if they, for example, prefer the fastest route or to cycle at a more leisurely pace. Additionally, the application shows users points of interests and visitor attractions to get to know cities better. Besides route planners, Bike Citizens offers cycling tours created by local cyclists. Furthermore, users can see a personalised summary of the trips they have cycled

New urban visions
Join the final event of the EU-funded project Digital Social Innovation for Europe's (DSI4EU) on Tuesday 25 June in Warsaw, Poland! Do you use car navigation, weather forecasting, or translation applications? You may not be aware of it, but those services - and many more - use open data! Take the chance to showcase your company's experience with open data and fill out the European Data Portal's survey about the economic impact of open data. The European Data Portal will select multiple companies to showcase open data usage in practice in a report that will be published in early 2020. Openaid.se visualises all of Sweden's aid to the world based on open government data. The website shows when, to whom and for what purposes Swedish aid funds have been allocated, and what the results are. The website is a collaboration between the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, a government agency working on behalf of the Swedish parliament and government, with the mission to reduce poverty in the world.
